SM Headline: Two local companies worked together to put on a free car show
A.U.T.O. Collision and the Heather Rolfe Agency worked together on Saturday to organize a free car show for the Utah automotive community.
“The car community here is like family to us,” said Heather Rolfe, the event director for the show. “If you have a love for cars it is a great place to come and hang out for the day, and the best part is it’s totally free. There is no entrance fee and no fee to show your car here.”
Because this show is one of the only free car shows in Utah it has attracted a lot of people.
“It’s fun to see what twists peoples’ triggers,” said Kevin Merrick, a participant from West Jordan. “I enjoy the camaraderie at these events. It doesn’t matter what you drive. Run what you brung.”
Rolfe said to keep the show free for everyone, no money was spent on advertising. But even without advertising over 100 cars participated in the event.
“I like to come out to car shows like this,” said Wayne Rue, a local Utah participant. “It’s a great way to spend a Saturday. It’s free and it’s fun. How does it get any better?”
While the majority of the vehicles at the show were classics, other makes and models showed up as well.
“Any make and model of car is welcome at the show,” Rolfe said. “Every single person here put their blood, sweat and tears into their car. We aren’t going to restrict who can participate. We want everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves.”
The A.U.T.O. Collision Car Show began at 11 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m. Saturday.
