Headline: Import Spring Showoff Sets the Bar High for Utah Car Shows

With a new list of vendors and activities planned for the 2016 event, Import Spring Showoff, also known as ISS, will continue to be one of the largest and fastest growing mega car meets in Utah, with participants numbering in the thousands.

“We are Utah’s original and largest mega meet,” said Jeff Woodyatt, the president and founder of ISS. “I never thought it would grow into what it is today. We were blown away when we got 70 cars to one of our earlier events. It’s fun to see what it’s grown into.”

The number of cars expected to participate this year should exceed 2,300.

“We had an idea at the right time,” said Jerry Carson, the second in command at ISS. “Our event is always going to sell out. No matter what the size and no matter how big it gets.”

The beginning of ISS dates back to a small group meet with little more than a dozen cars in 2005. Every year since, the event has grown exponentially.

“Last year we had more than 2,000 cars and 6,000 spectators,” Woodyatt said. “It’s hard to fathom going bigger.”

“I like how big and well organized it is,” said Alex Bowcutt, an annual participant since 2013. “My friends and I come down from Idaho Falls every year.”

“They make sure they have a ton of extra parking for the meet itself, which makes a huge difference,” said Michael Anderson, a participant from Idaho since 2012. “The main reason I go is because it’s one of the biggest events in our area.”

Even though this event has thousands of participants and spectators, the primary goal is to make sure everybody has a good time.

“We always try to make everything equal,” Woodyatt said. “We like to celebrate all vehicles. We accept anybody. We also focus on making the event family friendly.”

The staff makes sure to hire DJs who will play music that is family friendly. There will also be a coloring contest for children.

ISS will open at 1 p.m. on April 10 at The Maverick Center in West Valley City.

All proceeds will be donated to Primary Children’s Hospital.
